Mizzou Faces Last Place South Carolina

The Missouri Tigers take on the worst team in the SEC when the South Carolina Gamecocks come to Mizzou Arena on Tuesday.

The Gamecocks finally picked up their first SEC win on Saturday by beating Texas 84-69. The victory snapped a 13-game losing streak for South Carolina to start conference play.

Tigers Eager To Respond

Mizzou is likely itching to get back on the floor after dropping a 92-85 decision at Arkansas on Saturday. The loss dropped the Tigers out of the top 4 in the race for a double-bye in the SEC Conference Tournament, as Tennessee and Texas A&M both hold the tiebreaker edge over them.

Despite losing the game at Arkansas, Mizzou continued the trend of dominating its opposition in the first half. The Tigers held a 48-41 lead at the break, lifting their first half against the spread mark to 19-8 overall and 10-4 in the SEC.

Gamecocks Struggle Offensively

South Carolina averages just 70.1 points per game, which is the fewest in the SEC. The Gamecocks also rank last in league play according to KenPom in offensive efficiency, effective field goal percentage, and turnover percentage.

South Carolina turns the ball over on a league-high 21.1% of its possessions in SEC play, which is a recipe for disaster against a Missouri defense that excels at forcing turnovers. The Tigers steal the ball at a higher rate than any other team in conference play.

My Pick

This game has first half demolition written all over it, as South Carolina is in for a rough night against the disruptive Missouri defense. The Gamecocks have trailed at the half in all seven of their SEC road games by an average of 11.7 points per game.

Get ready to add South Carolina to the list of notable teams Mizzou has led by double digits at halftime, including #18 Memphis, Kansas, LSU, #3 Florida, Arkansas, #24 Mississippi State, Oklahoma, and #6 Alabama.

Pick: Missouri -7 in the first half on bet365 (take up to -9.5)
