Blues Face Kings Again
The St. Louis Blues look to get back on the winning track when they take on the Kings in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
The Blues saw their four-game winning streak come to an end in a 6-3 loss at Dallas on Sunday.
Blues Still Playing Well
Despite the loss in Dallas, the Blues should still feel confident about their recent play. Playing their third game in four days, they still outshot the Stars 42-21.
The Blues fell short in that game in large part because of their struggling penalty killing unit, which allowed a goal on all four power plays awarded to the Stars. The Blues kill penalties at the second-worst rate in the NHL at 70.3%, but the Kings may be the cure to what ails them. Los Angeles’ power play ranks 30th in the league with a success rate of just 15.2%.
Kings Really Struggling
The Kings are in a funk right now having dropped four straight games, including a 4-1 loss in St. Louis on Saturday. Los Angeles followed that up with a 5-1 defeat to the lowly Blackhawks on Monday. Overall, the Kings have scored only six goals during this four-game losing streak.
A return home may be just what the doctor ordered, as the Kings have a dominant 19-3-3 record on home ice.
My Lean
Even after the loss in Dallas, I get the sense that vibes are high with the Blues - and they may be catching the Kings at the right time.
The Blues have scored at least three goals in each of their last seven games, and that may be enough if Jordan Binnington is in goal for this one as I expect him to be. Binnington has won each of his last four starts.
This isn’t a bet for me because of the Kings’ home dominance, but I wouldn’t dissuade anyone from throwing a dart on the Blues to win at a good plus money price.
