The St. Louis Blues (30-27-6) took a 3-2 shootout win against the Los Angeles Kings (31-20-9) in a close contest Wednesday night.
Game Summary:
The scoring started with Jake Neighbours putting the Blues up late in the first period with a backhand shot. However, Quinton Byfield quickly tied it 1-1 for the Kings with a wrist shot.
In the second period, Trevor Moore gave the Kings a 2-1 lead halfway through, after a loose puck sneaked through the left post behind Jordan Binnington. The Blues responded with a power play goal by Robert Thomas at the end of the second period, leveling the game 2-2. Thomas ripped a one-timer off a slot pass from Pavel Buchnevich, extending his point streak to 11 games. He now has 15 points in that stretch, including five goals and 10 assists.
Los Angeles outshot St. Louis 4-1 in overtime, but Binnington’s clutch performance kept the game alive. He stopped two breakaways, one each from Philip Danault and Trevor Moore, preserving the tie.
In the shootout, Binnington stopped the first two Kings shooters. Neighbours scored for the Blues, tucking in a wrist shot. Brayden Schenn's backhand was poked away by goaltender Darcy Kuemper, and Kevin Fiala answered with a goal past Binnington, tying the shootout at 1-1. Ultimately, Robert Thomas sealed the win with a wrist shot that found its way past Kuemper.

Binnington finished with 21 saves on 23 shots, posting a .913 save percentage.
“He’s always been that guy, he always makes the big saves when we need him most,” said Thomas about Binnington’s performance.

Colton Parayko registered an assist on Neighbours' goal, marking his 294th NHL point and tying Jeff Brown for the fifth-most points by a Blues defenseman.
