The St. Louis Blues (31-28-7) fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins (27-31-10) by a score of 5-3 on Thursday night at PPG Paints Arena. Despite putting more shots on frame, the Blues couldn't make them count.
First Period:
Pittsburgh struck early as Ryan Graves scored on the first shot of the game with a wrist shot from the point. It was Graves' first goal since Jan. 20, 2024. The Blues controlled play, finishing the period with a 16-5 shot advantage, but couldn't capitalize.
Second Period:
Conor Timmins extended the Penguins' lead to 2-0 after his snapshot through traffic found the back of the net.
Zach Bolduc responded for St. Louis, cutting the deficit to 2-1 with a power-play one-timer—his sixth goal in the last eight games.
“I think I’m feeling good. I’m feeling confident,” Bolduc said. “My linemates are playing well too. I think all the team is playing well. So, it makes the game easier for everyone.”
Pittsburgh regained a two-goal cushion when Connor Dewar redirected a pass into the net with two minutes left in the period. The Blues answered back late, as Dylan Holloway made it 3-2 with a power-play one-timer just over a minute before intermission.

Third Period:
Bryan Rust restored the Penguins’ two-goal lead, deflecting a Rickard Rakell wrist shot to make it 4-2.
Alexey Toropchenko brought the Blues within one, splitting the defense and beating Tristan Jarry with a wrist shot from the top of the crease. However, Rakell sealed the win with an empty-net goal, securing the 5-3 victory for Pittsburgh.
Despite outshooting the Penguins 36-21, the Blues couldn’t finish their chances quite as well.
Goaltending:
Jordan Binnington was pulled after Rust’s goal in the third period, having only stopped 15 of 19 shots. Meanwhile, Penguins’ goaltender Tristan Jarry stopped 33 of 36 shots for a .909 save percentage.
Penguins ML (+102) hit while the total score went OVER the 5.5 line (-122).
What’s Next:
