The St. Louis Blues (35-28-7) crept past the Vancouver Canucks (32-25-12) with a 4-3 overtime victory on Thursday night.
Game Recap
Zach Bolduc opened the scoring at 15:47 of the second period, firing a wrist shot through traffic that deflected past Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen.
Vancouver responded early in the third, as Kiefer Sherwood tied the game 1-1 with a wrist shot from the top of the right circle at 1:11. Brock Boeser then gave the Canucks their first lead at 6:35, beating Jordan Binnington with a shot from the right circle.
Tyler Tucker brought the Blues even again at 9:28, snapping a shot from the high slot. Just 24 seconds later, Dylan Holloway finished a feed from Jordan Kyrou on the rush to put St. Louis ahead 3-2.
Boeser struck again in the final moments, netting a slap shot from the right circle with just four seconds remaining to force overtime.
Philip Broberg sealed the win for St. Louis at 3:42 of the extra frame, converting a pass from Brayden Schenn on a rush before tucking the puck past Lankinen with a smooth forehand-to-backhand move.
“I just tried to drive the net and [Schenn] was able to do a great pass,” Broberg said. “I just tried to take it to the backhand and just happy it went in.”
