The St. Louis Blues (39-28-7) stormed back to defeat the Nashville Predators (27-37-8) by a score of 3-2 on Thursday night at Bridgestone Arena, securing their eighth consecutive victory.

Game Recap

Nashville struck early, just three minutes into the game, when Michael Bunting found Fedor Svechkov above the crease for a quick wrister past Joel Hofer. The Predators doubled their lead midway through the first period after the Blues failed to clear the puck on the power play, allowing Brady Skjei to fire a shot into the back of the net.

St. Louis finally got on the board in the second period when Dylan Holloway cut the deficit to 2-1. He ripped a wrist shot from the high slot off a pass from Robert Thomas with 9:25 remaining.

Eight minutes into the third, Cam Fowler knotted the game at 2-2, beating Juuse Saros blocker-side on a setup from Jake Neighbours. Just 22 seconds later, Holloway struck again for the game-winner, stripping the puck in the high slot before tucking it past Saros to give St. Louis the lead for good.

Nashville generated pressure in the final moments, and Jonathan Marchessault appeared to force overtime with a buzzer-beater goal. However, after video review, officials determined the puck had not crossed the line before time expired.

Sluggish Start

“I think that’s huge to have a comeback win,” Holloway said. “It wasn’t our best game by any means, we were kind of fighting it a bit early, but I think to come back and win a game like that is huge for our team. I think that’s how we grow. It’s definitely crucial to know that we can do that.”

The Blues were sluggish early, managing just 10 shots through the first two periods. Despite the slow start, they completed a season sweep of the Predators, winning all five meetings and officially eliminating Nashville from playoff contention.
