The St. Louis Cardinals (28-23) narrowly held off the Arizona Diamondbacks (26-25) 4-3 on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at Busch Stadium. A bases-clearing triple from Nolan Arenado in the sixth inning proved to be the difference, spoiling an otherwise strong outing from Arizona starter Zac Gallen, who gave up just two hits prior.
