The St. Louis Blues have made a definitive statement about the future of their top-six forward group. The club announced earlier today they have re-signed forward Dylan Holloway to a five-year contract extension worth $38.75 million. The deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $7.75 million, securing the 24-year-old through the 2030-31 season.

This extension comes on the heels of a massive campaign for Holloway. While his season totals of scoring 22 goals and 51 points in 59 games, are impressive, it was his performance following the 2026 Olympic break that forced the Blues' hand. Holloway exploded for 34 points in the final stretch of the season, sharing the seventh-highest scoring mark in the NHL during that span.

His combination of elite skating and a heavy shot has made him a nightmare for opposing defenders and goaltenders. Beyond the scoresheet, Holloway led the entire league with a +26 rating post-Olympics, proving he has developed into a reliable 200-foot player under the Blues' system.

Holloway’s new $7.75 million cap hit isn't just a random figure, but puts him in step with some of the most dynamic young wings in the league. By signing him to this number, the Blues are betting that Holloway’s trajectory will mirror or exceed the players currently occupying this bracket like Andrei Svechnikov and Matthew Knies.

While Svechnikov signed his deal earlier in his career, he remains the gold standard for this price point as a perennial 30-goal threat. More recently, the Toronto Maple Leafs locked up Knies at the exact same $7.75M AAV. Like Knies, Holloway provides a rare blend of size and skill, but Holloway’s explosive finish to the 2025-26 season shows he may have the highest offensive ceiling of the trio.

The Blues are clearly transitioning into a new era. With Holloway signed long-term alongside franchise pillars like Robert Thomas and budding star Jimmy Snuggerud, St. Louis has continued to build a young, fast, and expensive core designed to compete in a crowded Central Division.

The $7.75 million price tag might seem steep compared to his early career production, but in a league where the salary cap is rising and elite young talent is at a premium, this deal will look like a bargain before the first year is even over. If Holloway maintains his "point-per-game" pace from the spring, the Blues haven't just signed a top-six forward—they’ve secured another star for the franchise and the NHL.
