Blues Head West
The St. Louis Blues continue their four-game road trip tonight in Seattle against the Kraken.
The Blues had a successful start to the trip with a 3-1 win at Minnesota on Sunday. However, they have struggled away from home most of the season with a road record of 8-17-3.
Blues Have Kraken’s Number
These teams met just last week with the Blues knocking off the Kraken 5-1 in St. Louis. Seattle has been a favorable opponent recently, as the Blues have posted a 6-0-2 record in the last eight meetings.
But once again, the challenge tonight is for the Blues to start stringing wins together. They have won consecutive games just five times all season long, and they’ve also yet to win three in a row.
Seattle Back On Track
Seattle has rebounded from that loss in St. Louis last week by posting consecutive home wins over the Canucks (5-1) and Hurricanes (2-1). This is the third of a six-game homestand for the Kraken. They are 16-9-5 on home ice this season.
The Kraken are right in the thick of the Western Conference playoff chase. They currently occupy the final Wild Card spot, 3 points ahead of the Sharks.
My Pick
It’s really simple for me at this point. If the Blues win a game, just plan on fading them next time out. This team has been maddening all season long with the inability to string good performances together, and I don’t see any reason to deviate from that tonight against a quality opponent that is currently feeling good vibes at home.
If the Blues win tonight, I’ll personally be betting 2 units on the Sharks in the next game, meaning I’ll profit unless the Blues do something they haven’t done all season long - win three in a row. If they can accomplish that, I’ll take my 3 units of losses and move on. But until the Blues can show me some consistency, I want to try to profit off their frustrating play.
