The Saint Louis University Billikens wrap up their regular season today on the road at the George Mason Patriots.
The Billikens have already clinched a share of the Atlantic 10 regular season championship and the #1 seed in next week’s conference tournament, but they need a victory today to clinch the outright regular season title and deny VCU a share of it.
This is a tricky spot today for the Bills. They deservedly celebrated and cut down the nets this past Wednesday when clinching the top spot in the A10, in addition to having the emotions of Senior Night. SLU also almost certainly has a spot wrapped up in the NCAA Tournament no matter what happens today or next week at the conference tournament.
With that in mind, I could see a recent trend continuing today - the Billikens coming out of the gates slowly.
The Bills did not cover the first half spread on Wednesday against Loyola. They also trailed at the half in each of their four games before that.
George Mason has been struggling lately, but this is a good team. The Patriots have dropped five of their last six games, but this is a 22-8 squad that is going to be fired up on their Senior Night with a ranked team and the top dog in the A10 coming into their house.
The Billikens have lost their last two road games at Rhode Island and Dayton. They need a strong performance today to improve the vibes away from Chaifetz Arena. Hopefully they can get it done and wear down the Patriots over a full 40 minutes, but in the first half, I lean George Mason to extend SLU’s struggles early in games.
Lean: George Mason +3.5 in the first half at -105 on DraftKings
